Valley United Way's Harvest House Committee which is a committee of the Corporate Volunteer Council has been named as the Points of Light Daily Honoree for December 24, 2013. Though all the details of have not been posted as yet, the Committee has been responsible for building unique houses made of non-perishable food items which are then donated to local food banks. The Points of Light awards are made by the Points of Light Foundation which was established by former President George H.W. Bush to recognize individuals and groups for selfless community service. You can learn more about the Points of Light Foundation here.
This is not the first time that the Valley has received a Points of Light daily honoree designation. Back on December 16, 1999 the Healthy Valley 2000, which United Way hosted and helped lead, was honored.
